Annual General Meeting: The AGM was
held at the circuit on Saturday 17th May 2008.
There was one change on the committee, Boyd Barrington
did not stand for re-election, and Jonathan McCaughan
was elected in his place.
CCTV is in operation: The club has
invested in a CCTV system to aid the Clerk of the Course
in judicial decisions on driving incidents. There
are a total of nine cameras (two in the paddock, up to
seven on the track) in operation.
Lets Go Karting: Shenington has been selected for one of
the club places on the MSA
sponsored scheme to give
youngsters a chance to try a race kart for the sum of
only £5. We were the first club in the country to
start the sessions, with our inaugural session on
Tuesday 17 June 2008. The current sessions are
shown below, generally a day in school holiday weeks and
one Tuesday evening per month. If anyone would like to come
along and help the committee volunteers please make
contact with the secretary. We have invested in
two brand new Cadet karts fitted with Honda GX120
engines, a Comer S60 and a MicroMax (generously gifted
by JAG) on a junior chassis for the older kids. All racewear will be provided.
Please phone the secretary on 01926 812177 if you want
to book in a driver for the next available trial. Also for those who have already been on
the Lets Go Karting day, we are offering a longer test,
three sessions for £30, in the holidays, during the day, on 28th July
with morning or afternoon sessions and on
18th August in the afternoon. Please phone 01295 257674
to book, but remember you must have been on an LGK day
with us first.

Fire Extinguishers: Could all competitors
please ensure they have a working fire extinguisher at
the race meetings in accordance with regulations,
minimum size 55B but better to be 70B minimum.
Also please acquaint yourselves with the nearest
firepoint in the paddock where large fire extinguishers
may be found.
If you have an awning, it is now recommended to have a
minimum of a 2kg foam or powder, or two if more than one
competitor. Commercial teams should have a minimum
of 2 x 6kg and the fire extinguishers should be kept at
the entrance(s) to the awnings.
King
of Clubs win 2008: Congratulations to Richard Lloyd and
his Shenington team for lifting the Whilton Mill King of
Clubs trophy on 29 June. Shenington had 273
points, Whilton Mill was second with 267 points and
Buckmore Park third with 243 points. Our winning
team, most of them shown in the picture courtesy of
pixeloro.co.uk were Travis Kirt & Ellis Hank (Comer
Cadet), Scott Jeffs & Jack Mitchell (Honda Cadet), James
Peace & Josh Waring (Junior TKM), Callum Hughes & Aaron
Timberlake (MiniMax), Bobby Neil & Zoe Wenham (Junior
Max), Richard Lloyd & Scott Chaney (TKM Extreme), Daniel
Payne & James Corpe (Max), Luke Woodland & Jake Oram
(Max 177). Picture to the right.
KF Club Racing: Be aware that SKRC is
offering KF2 and KF3 club races during 2009,
should there be sufficient entries for a meeting.
PIT-SPACES:
Could visitors to the club please respect the pit spaces
that are booked for the year by the club members. If in
doubt, look at the notice boards in the paddock to see
which are occupied. The owner of the pit-space
always has precedence up to 0915 on Sunday morning.
Please note that if a pit bay holder is not using the
pit bay for a race weekend, if they inform Track Manager
Peter Cox the club will attempt to sell the space for
£20 for the weekend and if sold, give a £10 discount
voucher to be used against a test day in the future.
Vacant pit spaces can be pre-booked for a weekend at £20
by contacting Peter Cox on 07770 866006 or 01295 257674
(evening) and at reasonable times.
WiFi Broadband Internet Access: As part of the
continuing service to our customers / club members /
drivers we have now made available WiFi access in the
paddock. It covers almost all of the B and C pits,
and the some of the new field, but unfortunately isn't
very strong in the A Pits. We also have live timing available and
the webcam(s). Please do not abuse the facility with
over-use (eg gaming) or we may have to put on password
protection. Just treat the free internet access
with respect, thank-you.
2009 Calendar: Club meetings will be held on the
third Sunday of the month from January to November with
the 12th round held on 5/6 December. The first
week-day Thursday test day is on 15th January, to suit the KF
Winter Series entrants, with another on the 19th February during the school holiday
week. The February meeting in 2009 had to be
cancelled due to the snow cover in the paddock, so the
Winter Series will now count over only two rounds, and
the main club championship will count 9 best scores out
of 11 meetings as per 1.7.2 in the regs.

Spellfame SuperPrix - 13 - 15 June:
Thanks to title sponsor Spellfame karting and other
sponsors Tal-Ko, Iztech and Pixelero. The meeting
was a superb success, Lewis Williamson won the ABkC ICC
UK O Plate. Around 80 historic karts attended for
display, most of them taking part in the track
demonstrations. Thanks to all marshals and
officials, and to Ken Walker for the excellent
commentary.
And all competitors received a free hat, with the SuperPrix motif.

Historic kart entry
list and programme is here
ARCHIVE: SPELLFAME SUPER PRIX 15/16 / 17 June 2007:
A fantastic weekend, Driver of the Day award to Cadet
Travis Kirk; Super 4 250 National winner Martin Jones;
about 60 historic karts took to the track for
demonstrations out of the 130 old and classic karts
present; £1165 raised for the Oliver Smart appeal. Pics here

Please put your entries in ON
TIME! At a recent meeting there were 176 sent on time and
64 AFTER the closing date. Remember we are allowed
to charge £10 for late entries.
Note to all commercial teams: Please remember that
after 1st July all commercial awnings and team vehicles
MUST display appropriate No Smoking signs as required by
law. Checks will be made
ROTAX MAX DD2: The club welcome DD2 at our
test days but please note all DD2 karts must practice in
the gearbox sessions. Our insurance does not
permit us to mix gearbox and direct-drive and because
the MSA recognise DD2 as a gearbox category, they must
therefore set their gearing for the long circuit and
practise accordingly with 125 ICC etc. IF there is
sufficient demand we can consider a race as they are
already referenced in our SRs.

Please note—reluctantly we can no longer
accept used tyres. Too many people from all over were
using our facility, not just club members. So it is
exclusion for anyone dumping tyres at Sheni from now on.
We have had delivery of the SuperSports ERS Tempus
timing system so all meetings from now on will sport the
ERS+ results on
www.karting.co.uk . This should be of great benefit to the
club members and guests, being able to bring up various
statistics on
www.karting.co.uk website. Yet another update
and improvement from your favourite club. Remember all
profits are put back into the club facilities.
Please note the MSA Gold and Blue Book are available on
the www.msauk.org
website for download in pdf format. If you do not
have a licence and password, it is now possible to get a
public access password.

| Track Re-surfacing: About 40% of the track was
re-surfaced in July and the September meeting was
the first opportunity to try it out. We have put in three Alfano
strips and a new timing loop. Interestingly, the
TKM lap records were smashed on the new surface. |
|
Race Track and banks: Please note the club is now enforcing the rule that there is no access to the race track without official permission, even after racing or practising is finished. This is because of complaints from the glider club of children throwing stones over the banks onto the glider club runways and equipment. Please do not allow your children to go onto the race circuit at any time, no cycling, playing etc. Drivers may walk round the circuit before practise or racing.
|
|
|
Perimeter Gate: Please note that the outside
gate is locked between 11 pm and 7 am on race weekends.
But it is locked with a stout chain to allow room for
pedestrians to gain access after locking up time.
|
|
|
Toilet & Shower opening times: Clubhouse toilets &
shower will be closed between 2315 & 0715 but will not
be open evenings of or prior to mid-week testing,
although the old toilets will be.
