Since you're thinking of spending around Ł400, clearly you're going to be a budget karter. My advice, therefore, would be to get an engine that has already been extremed as total cost of parts and labour to do this would be around Ł90. Get a DD to save money on clutch replacements. Don't pay extra for a "freshly rebuilt" motor unless its backed up by a reciept from a tuner of repute. At this price level, you won't get one of the latest or previous homologation karts (unless its a heap), so go for condition and straightness (JKH and Wright are strong chassis).
