I don't know where your engineering comes from but tight side bars do stiffen the centre of the chassis.

Anyway, why should a scrut make you tighten them?

They don't make you do it with torsion bars at the back or front.

Oh, I forgot, you don't believe in them either.

Or seat stays.

Or different seat materials.

Or floorpan materials.

Or camber and caster adjusters.

Or magnesium versus alloy wheels.

Or long and short hubs.

Or the kart fairy :)
