I think the cost of karting could rocket in 2009 due the collapse of the pound against the euro. Many if not most of us use imported karting components form chassis to engines to tyres to general bits and pieces which will all become more expensive as the stocks already in the UK diminish. For the last few weeks I have been tracking the pound/euro exchange rate – for 2,250 euro on the 26th October Ł1,785 – 2nd December Ł1,920 – 9th December Ł1970 – 12th December Ł2008 and astoundingly in one day 13th December Ł2,025 (note this is the middle rate).
