just got home from changing tires all day at work. we replace the valves when we change the tires so i would reccomend doing this but i wouldn't do it every time you changed tires. maybe once every 5-10 tire changes. don't use fairy liquid to put tires on as its not as good a lube and wierd shiz grows on the rim meaning the tire and rim cannot seal correctly so air leaks out. as for the bead retainer rubbers replace them when they look perished. don't overstretch tires as this will damage them meaning they may not be able to seal properley.
