Mag Wheels do have different performance specs fom alloy wheels.
Usually they are stiffer than plain ally wheels, they are lighter and they transmit heat more efficiently and may have a different offset.
They may be effective if you need stiff, light, cold wheels with a different offset. Would you know if you did? And it really can only be you who decides, because the variables are numerous. The temperature, the track temperature, the amount of sunshine, the way you drive, the pressures you set your tyres to, the energy retained on this track as compared to that.
There is one claim that can be substantiated. Your wallet will be lighter.
