My view on these matters, for what its worth, is that it is always more about each rim design, offset and material strength characteristics than the actual material itself.

However all of that said there is no doubt that certain wheel types suit certain conditions and as a result return consistently better laptimes in those conditions.

As ever testing will reveal the answers and will also get you a big collection of wheels LOL.
