By all menas, read that article but do it 'critically'. It is mere OPINION.... it doesn't mention a SINGLE proper, recognised TEST!

Secondly, look at the picture of that collapsible steering boss. Now imagine it being hit from the SIDE an instant before the driver slammed forward. Instead of him hitting a nice FLAT steering wheel, he will be presented with a bare TUBE in the middle of the chest as the wheel collapses PAST the exposes tube!

Finally, it makes the bizarre claim that adults have a higher upper body strength and can 'hold themselves back' better than cadets can. The forces involved in a collision at speed are VASTLY above what a cadet OR adult can 'resist' with mere arm-strength. It would be like saying that an adult falling off a roof would be better at supporting themselves on their arms as they hit the ground than would a cadet! Neither would be able to resist the forces involved!

I am NOT objecting to Blob posting that; it's just that you need to look at the sorts of claims made in this type of article and look past what they are claiming.

For example, where is even a SINGLE test of the high-backed-seats ability to SUPPORT a crashing, tmbling kart? Where is the EVIDENCE that the child is not more greatly injured by being trapped BETWEEN the head-rest and the ground? Usually, outr old seats pin us to the ground by the chest. The new seats MIGHT trap you by the NECK! I am calling for PROPER analysis of ALL the 'safety' systems and for it to be done in the light of KNOWING that we drive more aggressively if surrounded by safty equipment than if we had a foot-long SPIKE sticking out of the wheel!
