The chassis CANNOT 'know' if the weight (mass) pushing through it's seat mounts and seat stays is made of lead or flesh.

The issue is not the total mass of the driver and lead but rather its vertical position, the higher it is positioned then the greater the weight transfer achieved thus allowing the kart to behave normally and lift the inner wheel, rather than with the driver and lead in the lower position it tends to remain flat and slide.
