- where is the best place close-ish to Wombwell to have a Tonykart chassis jigged with a quick turnaround?
Whats should be left on the chassis (stubs, back axle, steering column etc) and what's the approx cost?
It measures up Ok with a tape and the tracking is ok but probably not worth getting to the track next weekend and wishing we'd had it done, as it was definitely not rolling straight after the "fun" in my son's final (there was even crashing under the yellow / black check flag !).
Thanks,
Jon
p.s. Im my view its the perennial problem of over eager, and arguably under skilled or under experienced young racers worried they will get stuck if they don't hit the front coming out of turn one, lap one. I don't think they actively want to knock others off, just that they are so determined to get there first, they accept that they might, and know they are likely to get away with it. You cant change racers heads.
Enforcing the rules - like the initial suggestion - is needed, but the decisions will never be 100% accurate and will always be argued. Video evidence and having to pay to fix the other persons kart would be even better !
The other way is to make sure there are less people on the same piece of tarmac in turn one (or turn two, as we're talking PFI).
Daft ideas dept from me would be automatic red flag if firing was witnessed by C.o.C or for significant turn one carnage, two reds and no race.
How about single file rolling starts from grid position if they cant get off the line clean first time.
Or for Rotax, how about dead engine standing starts? (I'm half joking, but there again...)
Or a couple of cones chopping track width down on the problem bend for lap one, so they have to drop into single file or get excluded on a more obvious decider (may just push the problem down the track).
Also - what about 15 lap races - then a poor start can more easily be overcome by driving better than anyone else...
