It's more likely to be 'aerodynamics' than 'weight'

.... so, try towing at legal speeds......

The MAXIMUM speed with a trailer is 60mph on roads that are 'marked' as 70mph and 50mph for those that are 'marked' as 60mph.

You'll be SHOCKED at how much fuel you save.....
