You two are professionals at you 'jobs' (or damned nigh, so). Hobby karters may find that (for example) if they are doing 1 race a month for a few years, then the cheapy stuff will do just fine!
Personally, being RIGHT cheapskate, I use a 'third route'. I buy better quality stuff but only second-hand. That usually works out at a price/quality compromise. Obviously, I only buy stuff that looks well looked-after. I get the benefits of both worlds (cheap AND quality) but it does take more TIME!
I still HAVE my Honda Generator bought in 1973 and, being a Honda, it STILL starts 2nd pull! Their stuff is INCREDIBLE!
