I may be wrong but I beleive DOT5 is silicon based fluid. DOT4 is Glycol based. Mix the two and you have problems. The rubber seals swell and pads will not retract causing the overheating by rubbing on the disc. You will have to change the seals throughout the system to rectify the problem if this is the cause.

DOT 5.1 is however glycol based so be sure whether you original fluid was 5 or 5.1

Check also that the springs are in place to retract the pads. I have seen them fall out.
