But the old rule applies: try as many different kart engines as you can before you buy anything. When I was in the market for my first kart, I was advised by a friend who knew my position and with plenty of experience in karting that I should buy a 125 gearbox kart. I nevertheless went ahead and bought the first thing I had fancied. He was right; I was wrong. My failure to head the advice was based on the perceived difficulty of running/maintaining them. Having purchased one since I now know I was wrong on that, too.
