Second time I've written this as good 'ole Windows went down, nothing unusual there then.

I'll try and remember what I just wrote but it was a lot.

10mm king pins should measure about 4 thou under 10mm.

A bolt will measure quite a bit less and be very loose in the bearings.

It should be a nice snug fit in the bearings with no play.

What make of chassis have you got?

Some of the Octanes and Tony karts had problems with wear in the pill bearings.

Check that the bearings aren't about to collapse.

Is the kart new or was it brought secondhand?

It could be that the caster/camber kit was fitted later and is not suitable.

The Octanes and Tony's sometimes needed the flying saucer washers ground down to stop them binding up the stub bearings.

I have seen caster kits fitted to just the top or bottom and the kingpins end up binding in the non adjustable one and causing big problems when the kingpin is tightened, putting a huge leverage on the yolk and pin.

The pins have to be able to rotate (waggle) as the top or bottom pills are adjusted.

You should be able to push the kingpin through the assembly without too much trouble.

There shouldn't be too much up and down play between the spacers before you tighten them.

Some chassis have a bit of spring in the yolk and some are quite tight and you have to tap the spacers in when assembling.

The pill bearings do wear and most are replacable if you don't mind the fiddling about with getting the circlips out.

They are expensive to replace on some chassis'.

You can always swop the parts from left to right to eliminate faults. I know the stub axle angle will look wierd but you can do it.

If all else fails phone my owner 07759361238 anytime.

Off to lick me nuts now.
