Most metals are used in "Alloy" form incorperating minor proportions of other materials to improve their physical properties. IE, Carbon is added to Iron to produce steel. Pure Aluminium is very soft and would bend far to easily to be used for wheels, so Copper, Zinc, Silicone Manganese (+others) are added in very small proportions ( less than 10% total) to increase the strength dramatically. Most commonly used Magnesium alloys also are more than 90% Magnesium
