Thanks NJB. That is sort of what I was getting at, I was trying but I don't think I made my questions specific enough. Your answer to 1. was what I was getting at. Whether through this thermal conductivity, heat dissipation, whatever, people don't know how they are doing what they are doing. Answers are still pretty vague.
If you did know how they keep the tyres cooler and maintain lap time, you would be even better at testing with them as you would know what is changing and what isn't. And there must be some point at which it is too cold to use mags, as keeping them cool would no longer be wanted. Using testing to find out what works best, and actually understanding how and why, are slightly different.
