Cosgrove,

Your visitor raced at the last 2 Kimbolton meetings, and whist he was fast he wasn't fastest - quite a few other drivers were faster. Looking at the FKS championship standings your local track top driver is near the foot of the table. Both of these support Richy's suggestion that what you saw was probably more a case of a vastly more experienced driver, set up, etc, rather than a "monster" engine.

"Monster" engines that are seconds per lap faster are a myth. Why not speak to some engine builders and check out how much of a difference a top engine is vs. good one? I think you'll find its a couple of tenths - which may be all important in something like FKS over a 10+ lap race with a super consistant driver, but wasted on a lesser one.

The other thing to remember is some of these kids have been driving LOTS from an early age. Some already have YEARS of experience in either Bambino karts, or practicing in cadet karts before they are 8.

No disrespect, but I suspect you had the equivalent of a Premiership team routing a team from the lower reaches of the league.

If you want to see what mainstream cadet competition is like why not visit a track with a strong Comer field and see how you fare? Shenington, Whilton Mill, Kimbolton or PFI should give you an idea.
