once the sensor breaks thats it. the sensor is made up a hollow core with a positve and negative wire running thru it, surrounded by a mineral powder. it sounds like you have a break in on of the wires. when you get a brakage, as you have described the temp shows up as a 1000 degrees. check to see if the sensor is cracked anywhere or it might be a break in the actual cable which you can just thru crimp and it will be ok. if you have an extension cable with the plug on so you can disconnect the sensor.they are only K type sensors you could always get a replacement sensor from "airworld" google it they sell cht type sensors for £12, yes! thats right £12. fit your the mini plug from your old sensor and your off.
