What that shows, only they know and whether they've compared statistics from before and after is something the MSA haven't shared with the outside World!

Colin Hilton said that he wished to stop wheels inter locking in all motorsport, I think it odd that this has only been forced upon Karting and many car Formulas have escaped this type of rule, altho' at the time Colin did say Karting was just the start!

The original idea of bodywork for sc was sold to us by the CIK in that it would fall off if there was contact and therefore would make the sport less contact than now, but after the 1st CIK meeting where bodywork was strewn all over the circuit they seemed to abandon this stance for stronger fixings and this certainly hasn't been the safety feature they sold it to us on!

From my observations of watching many many Kart meetings and filling in lots of accident reports I do agree with Colin that it has reduced the great amounts of barrel rolling we saw before as wheels interlocked sideways, howver the opposite reaction as prescribed by Newtons 3rd Law of Motion is that there are more incidents and side swipes with the confidence that you are less likely to barrel role! Yes it's safer but there are far more last minute lunges!

As far as front and back bodywork for safety, as usual the CIK have made a farcical decision and statement!

Aesthetically however I do think it a move forward for our sport!
