I think most peoples experience of karting is a stag/work do at their local indoor track. They just assume that you are racing the same thing. When I explain to people at work the speeds involved and how technical things are, they seem to realise how much more is involved. I go racing, not to win, but to enjoy myself. There are days when I won races by a country mile that were not as enjoyable as having a real ding dong battle for the length of the race, or that one time you saw a gap, went for it, and passed half the grid in mid air! I hope I race against like minded people, and whatever the level, you usually find people of the same skill level to race with.
