if there is an air tight seal going between the syringe and the cylinder then all you have to do is:

ensure there is enough fluid in the syringe.

open up the bleeds

keep pressing on the syringe until all air is expelled

keep pressing and do up the bleed screws.

make sure the cylinder is full and tighten up the screw.

you should only need to replace the fluid/bleed if you feel the brakes get "spongey". this shouldnt happen if there are no leaks in the system.
