The max time a snell helmet is in homologation is 10 years .

To get the full 10 years you need to buy a helmet in the first year of the new standard .

The new 2010 standard is not yet released , so if they are snell they will be k2005 or sa2005

that means leagal till 2015 in my understanding or basically 5 years from jan 1st 2010 .

i wouldn't worry 5 years is plenty long enough as you'll proberbly have got to the point of needing to change it due to it possibly looking shabby after 5 years anyway.
