RoadRat - As a driver I haven't found the racing processional at all (although that's seniors - i haven't really watched the cadets - too busy spannering) Sure you don't get the random element thrown up with mixed grid heats - but then you don't get half the crash damage or races randomly ruined either. I think what seperates it from other classes running the same format in europe is that the karts are all exactly the same so 10 places on the grid is often less than a tenth - there is still always plenty to play for in the race.
The single engine/chassis registered to the individual driver is a big step preventing people from 'buying' their silverware with special engines etc. As for parts selecting - as mentioned before - barrels, heads etc may only be replaced on an engine if exchanged due to damage etc. If not done this way the engine would be taken of the register and not allowed to race. This surely significantly limits the advantage someone could theoretically gain?

Loz - Since you were in easykart 3 years ago it has grown and changed a lot. I'm suprised you didn't find it friendly because having spent my life in various racing paddocks over the last 30yrs (cars and karts) I've never known a racing series as friendly or so with many people happy to help out if you have a problem. Are you sure you aren't a little jaded by scoring some rather poor results when racing in equal machinery to your competetors? - Just teasing ;)
There is no doubt that travelling and hotel costs for easykart are going to be higher compared to racing at local club rounds as its a national series!!! I'm sure people appreciate that when they sign up! As for the running costs of the kart - with easykart you can be a front runnner with a limited budget as the top guys can't buy themselves an advantage. One engine, standard parts etc ... it's the same for everyone. We all know that's not true in rotax!

Anyway for anyone unsure - the best way to decide what the "real" Easykart is like is to come along and see a race. (Next race = Winter round at Whilton 21st Feb) If you like it and it suits you, great! Welcome to Easykart! .. If another series suits you better - then thats good too - karting is a great sport regardless of the class you compete in :)
