I had only used 4 stroke hire karts before i bought my senior rotax max at the beginning of last season. I would say that of course indoor karting is gonna help, becasue at the very least you are tyring to perfect laps, deal with oversteer, (which is something you are not likely to experience elsewhere) and follow a racing line ect. I would also say that being a fan of realistic racing games since i was about 13 helped me a lot! Things that will hit home in a 2 stroke race kart are:

1: The acceleration and top speeds will feel immense at first!
2: everyone else will come flying by on your first practise sessions, but you will soon get up to speed.
3: It's much more physically demanding than hire karts
4: It will burn a substantial hole in your pocket! Take what you think it will cost you and double it!

Its worth it though, after my first go I was hooked.
