An interesting point of this thread is the lack of understanding by drivers that circuit owners are usually in business to make money. At most circuits Sunday is the most profitable corporate day followed by Saturday. Circuits running weekend club events effectively give 25% of their busy time every month to running a club event.
Many drivers will never understand that what for them is a hobby / fun pastime is a cut throat business for circuit owners.
Having both run circuits & been a driver I have experienced both sides of the argument.
There is no right or wrong, just a different opinion from two sides of an argument.
