ContourHD is the American variety of HD which Is 720p the later model is the more universal standard 1080p. I'm still using the 720 version which is more than good enough for me. The 1080p model has exposure controls, being a CMOS sensor both the contour and I believe the go pro (same sensor) are both quite fussy about contrast light sensitive, contour works best in bright sunshine, and not flat or dull or dark days, both use 30frames per second HD or 60 fps standard def, but 30fps is fine, I've already asked the manufacturer to consider a 25 or 50p or 50i for pal land. But it is true that laptops and computers are natively 30p 60i contour records QuickTime files which will play on most windows machine and certainly anything apple. For pro use and I've seen the contour used almost as much go pro, saw the crew using it for onboard footage on the gadget show skiing item the contour HD files can easily converted using Compressor (an apple app) to 25p or 50i and no one would know it was originally 30p.

As to waterproof well certainly shower proof, I shied away from a deluge but would if I was getting paid well enough on a programme to risk, they are only £250 now and doubtless a crash cam for proper broadcast production. So expendable by broadcast standards...
