Yes a championship could use the nominated petrol station route and then pay for the fuel testing. Atol use a GC for fuel testing. The average GC equipment costs around 40 grand, or you could send sample to an approved lab, cost would then be around 275.00 for the first test and then 150.00 therafter. No other fuel company in the UK offers GC testing at the circuit, most at best only use FTIR and this is not acceptable for 2 strokes. Carless/Agip have to take samples at the British Superbike Championship for the 2 stroke class. A class which pays around 4.00 per litre for its fuel. A typical season of superbike racing will yield around 100,000+ litres of fuel against a kart championship like S1 which is around a quareter of this at best, I believe its been said before on here that Atol do not make a vast amount of money from Karting, it was a passion of Atol founder Ian Mulliner to supply Karting as an ex racer and its losses were offset against Atol other contracts.
FKS have no fuel testing because they use a parc ferme system but yet they still charge 4.20 per unit of fuel (this can be over or under a litre).
