Ive never opted to race in S1, but have raced at various other levels of motorsport (not necessarily karts).

Here are some thoughts:

1. There will always be cheque book racers in motorsport. It can never be stamped out. Shame, but true. There is always someone with more money than sense. So where people drop out due to cost there will always be someone else willing to step up.

2. TV..unless karting or anything less than F1 is broadcast on a popular channel at a good time of day, its not worth it. So, unless its say on BBC2, ITV2 or 4, Sky Sports, then forget it, you end up with MINIMAL exposure and not something you would want to pay for let alone something a sponsor would be interested in. Why would a non motor related company want to sponsor something that is only broadcast on a specialist motors channel that is only viewed by those who have taken part? Simple answer, they WONT!

3. onboard cameras. Got to be a good idea. The driving standards in karting is DIRE!!! For a non contact sport Ive never seen anything like it. There are more partially sighted observers and clerks in motorsport than anywhere else. Its either that or they know they can only report on the most extreme of incidents otherwise everybody would be tied up in clerks office all day.
Bring in the cameras and anything that cant be dealt with at the track due to time can carry a results pull and exclusion from X number of races once reviewed afterwards. That will put paid to some of the antics especially when entried are paid up front.

All in my opinion of course.

Also, make karting dad/parent syndrome officially recognised by the NHS and send them all on BAAM courses (google it). Ive never seen so much bullying of minors by parental figures before either!!

Karting can be sooooo much better than it is. No wonder its in decline!
