You shouldn't be worried about getting in people's way at practice sessions. Novice plates are there to tell the more experienced drivers that you are still learning and to therefore expect you to be a bit slower. Plus practicing is not racing - if they want to do some fast laps they can just drop back a bit.
I've heard of some cases where Rotaxes foul the plug if they're being driven below their power band for a while. And as said before, it's important to feed in the throttle out of the corners. I think you should go to an MSA track where you will be able to get the most out of it. More people, more help, more fun.
