Having owned are Lotus 7 Series 1 as my FIRST Lotus (10 FPK, a car which John Derisley used to race) (I'll send you a picture of it, if you'd like!) I should think I am probably VERY aware of it's Ford SIDE-VALVE engine... which was a complete HORROR of a motor... mated to the MIND-BOGGLING Ford THREE speed gearbox! 1st an 2nd were SPECTACULAR but the change into third felt like you'd thrown an ANCHOR out the back! It was still DAMNED quick for a 19 year old!

Mine was first registered in 1957 which makes that FIFTY THREE YEARS AGO nwhen they fitted that Ford engine....... That's only FIVE years after I was BORN.....so... do you not think that makes your data just SLIGHTLY out-of-date?
