Look, this home made approach is fine if you're at the track and badly need to get back out again for the next heat/final but its extremely crude. Hell, I've done it numerous times myself. However its not good enough.
Chassis 'non alignment' can be bend, twist, crab or a combination of them and only by using a proper laser alignment will you identify what it is. The best solution then is to get it on a jig and have it realigned correctly.
I don't mean to pour cold water over what's been said already... but just to say its not as simple as having the family stand on the back while you do St. Vitas Dance on the opposite corner.
