For all karts it depends on what gearing your trying to pull.

Out of interest I looked back at data from our PI during Stars of Tomorrow, KZ1 at Larkhall a couple of years ago. Which I think is where we have used the shortest gearing for a standing start. This data is from the start of a Heat 2, so includes avoiding other competitors!

2nd gear was pulled at 30mph 0.7sec 5.9m after the start and before crossing the start finish line. 50mph comes at 2.77sec and 37m. This was the best start of the day but still could have been quicker as the engine revved out before 2nd was pulled.

Data is from a PI with front wheel sensor with wheel size correctly calibrated.
