You are correct about the 'cheese straw' twist. There's also the 'piano fell on it' sag-in-the-middle. Neither can be checked by a 'tape in the 'normal manner' but..... they will show up some of the possible errors. However, if it HAS been 'jigged' (measured on a flat bed, in this case) it's not likely to be the 'piano' nor the 'cheese straw', is it...

The usual test for the 'cheese straw' is to remove the seat, etc., place chassis on a stand, place a straight-edge across the tops of the king pins, move a distance awy from the front of the kart and lower your eye-line until the top of the 'straight edge' is in line withe axle..... if it IS in line... great..... if it's not.... then the axle's mis-mounted or the chassis has a 'cheese straw' twist.

However.... assuming the 'jiggers' knew what they were doing, none of these are likely.

Personally, I'd check for chassis cracks and measure the circumference of the rear wheels, check the stub axle mountings

Thaose are the basics, anyway!

If only he'd post some damned PHOTOS we might be able to help him..... he doesn't makle it easy, does he!
