I use Grip [because it's claimed to be non-toxic] tyre softener on my practice day tyres and have found it worthwhile, certainly for rejuvenating old tyres.

Go easy with it on soft tyres though, i.e. SL6's and YGB's, as it softens them a little too much if you use it too often.

Please note that it is illegal [as in breaking the rules] for use in racing, though non-MSA events possibly allow it.
