We're probably about 3 months in front of you and my lad is doing his 1st race meeting next weekend. We went for a recent rolling chassis and put a new Honda engine on it. Apart from a driver inflicted bent track rod last week we've not had any mechanical failures. I'd be careful of getting something too old/cheap; it's easy to waste valuable practice time trying to fix a worn out kart trackside after it's broken down yet again.
