Snr Karts and Mx bikes(mainly 4 strokes) are about the same weight. I think the main difference is the force that causes the injuries. Most kart shunts or crashes are unspectacular as most of the bodies creating the forces are going a similar speed. Even when one hits the tyre wall you usually have a modicum of advance notice and the speed you hit it is dramatically diminished from your speed on the track. With MX you are tending to hit a static and normally immovable object with your body with normally accelerated force and that's why the injuries are so aggressive. For the effect to be similar in karting the kart being driven over would have to be stationary and the kart coming over the top at considerable speed. Even then the weight of the kart, although heavy could hardly be classed as immovable and would therefore
give to some degree.

As for hyper extension injuries, the neck brace will only protect against certain shunts. Even with a high impact in karting your chin will tend to stay on a horizontal plane to pre shunt. As the brace is only designed to minimize rotational forces either back wards and forwards or left and right I have doubts as to it's effectiveness in standard kart accidents. Whether it has a more substantial effect on the really big wipe outs is obviously for debate.
