1) do NOT buy a helmet with "Growing Room".... are you MAD? Would you fit his car seat belt loosely so he had 'growing room' in THAT too? Helmets M*U*S*T fit properly or they are NOT going to do the job on that ONE occasion when he needs to RELY on it!

You buy the helmet that FITS and you buy one that is SAFE..... or you give up karting. Giving up buying beer for the year will pay for it! We are talking about your son's HEAD here! Isn't it worth THAT?

2) Surely, you'd draw the line SOMEWHERE at buying secondhand or would you buy secondhand underpants as well?

Buy ANYTHING else secondhand for racing, just NOT the Helmet! Heads are FRAGILE!
