Make of this what you want but talking to a circuit owner today in France also with contacts in Italian karting. He said for the first time total Licence numbers for all kart classes have dropped below 1000 in both countries. Super expensive kids classes like Super Cadet are said to be one of the causes for the massive decline. He also said that licence numbers for kids on MiniGP bikes in Italy are expected to top 8000 this year. I can't confirm these numbers as fact but at least in France it tallys with my own experiences.
