Qualification through the club championship is a neat idea too. For example, the top three finishers in each club championship would qualify for the British Championship Finals. At the Finals, they would need to be whittled down [as there are a lot of clubs, would be a lot of drivers] to a grid of 24 or so that would fight it out for the Championship itself.

This concept was easy to do in the past because everyone was driving to a single formula - 100cc. Today, it could only really be done with the Max as providing drivers with a single make outfit would be impractical as there would be too many people at the Finals stage.

Still worth exploring I would have thought.
