Wrong guess, David! My son won 4 NatSKA sprint championships which were for absolutely "box stock" Comer 60's, (although many used msa fiched motors out of ignorance), and I finished up putting Dunlop DSA (at that time the stickiest tyres available) tyres on his kart to great advantage.
I have absolutely no doubts about this - within the realms of practicality that is being discussed here, there is no such thing as too much grip!
But I would agree with Alex McCCaul - the more grip there is relative to the power, the easier it is to drive.
