Unless your kid is 12 or 13 and in their final year of cadets and has achieved good results at club level I don't see the point of putting you and your kid through National racing. Why spend so much money just to make up the numbers.
O yes people will say you have to do it to be able to run with the best and learn the tracks. Yes tough racing will sharpen you but on the other hand it could also just knock all the confidence out of your kid, especially the younger ones. A 5 or 10 hour drive home after a bad day is a big ask of a child.
For me the first rule that must be passed is "have we enjoyed our weekends racing irrespective of where we have finished".
