May I ask you?
How much time do you think is spent to organise a race meeting!?

Ideally karting would be great if there was no outlay but it's the 21st century and times move on!

If you want to run in series like FKS or S1 then there are rules which need to be adhered too. Any club racing follows the blue book rules!

As for kart prep that's part of the fun of racing for the kids to get stuck in and do some kart prep with their dad!!
