Adding weight WILL NOT MAKE YOU FASTER: you have to accelerate, change direction and stop the extra weight, but its not that easy
IF: all things are equal, lighter will make you faster.
BUT: Adding weight to karts makes the chassis and tyres work in the 'design' area they are ment to be in.
If adding weight made you faster all F1, F2, touring car etc etc teams would add weight,
But as above karting is a bit different, if a kart was designed to run at say 80Kg and all things equal (power, grip ect) and a design at 100kg the 80kg would be faster
When we started cadet testing we ran 20 kg under, we added 20kg and went faster because the tyres, chassis, engine are designed to run at the set limit.
