QOT's Tesco analogy is spot on.
The track side rip off merchants are choosing to forego their goodwill in order to make a quick buck. It's very short-sighted. As I'm sure most people in business will realize, it's easier to keep an existing customer than to acquire a new one. They will also understand that the best way to acquire new customers is through positive referrals.
Had ColinH managed to buy his parts track side at the same price as these people were selling them on line, he would have a positive experience which would likely have influenced him to use these people again... and tell others about the experience. Instead, he's had to do the inverse !
