micky, wouldnt it be better to have the novice prove his/her skill level before a race day? (yup, thats the arks test)

there could be a lot of reasons for slow laps, e.g. engine problems, etc.

i doubt if lap time was a factor in him being unaware. you can get that from non-novices also.

i do hope that the instructors get feed back on what their novices get up to tho. awareness and safety should be much higher on the list than out right lap time
