I don't believe that you are correct - The Hon Mrs Victor Bruce became the first female member of the BRDC in 1927, according to my googling, & Patsy Burt another early lady member as well, so that couldn't have been the reason for the starting of the BWRDC. The "sexist debate" was started by the club making a sexist award! As you rightly say, men and women in motorsport compete on equal terms and there is no reason why women cannot win on their own merit. They don't need to breed resentment in the minds of male drivers who go home with nothing for finishing 11th, only to see a women who finished behind them being rewarded!
