The second point that I should have made is that you are doing the 'classic'. You are saying:

"I have chosen this object but can't afford it...... but I still want one."

That's a little childish!

I would like a Mclaren MP4-12C.... I haven't got the money and I hope someone will help me find one, cheaply (and not just buy it for themselves.....).

I suspect you might be laughing at my naivety with such a 'wish'.

The grown up approach is to say:-

"I have very little money: I'd LIKE a Rotax but I can't afford one.... so what ELSE could I buy, more cheaply that would give me very similar pleasure?"

The answer is pretty simple: try TKM!

Yes.... TKM is not as fashionable..... but it's MUCH more affordable! You probably cannot afford to but a 'Festival Winning' TKM but, it's utterly C*E*R*T*A*I*N that you cannot afford to buy a championship winning Rotax Max......

What you CAN afford (may.... be able to afford) is a TKM which you can repair and maintain FOR YOURSELF.... which will give you highly enjoyable 'club' racing. You simply CANNOT do that with Rotax! If you GET more money later, you can then change to Rotax (if you MUST......)..... but, for the time being, set your sights more realistically!

If that's too expensive.... look at sharing costs in a ProKart endurance team.

There are ways of doing karting slightly less expensively than Rotax Max.... but Rotax really IS a 'chequebook' class!

As I said, I want the Mclaren but..... until I can afford one, I'll stick with my elderly (but BL**DY QUICK) Lotus Elise! It's called 'being realistic'!
