The advice I was given was anything over 15 volts was too much and would loosen the studs in the hubs. Also, a 3/8's drive is your best bet as the 1/2 inch sockets don't always fit into the wheel nut recesses, depending on what wheels you have.
We bought a sealey (link below) over a year ago and have never had a problem. The battery will last a whole 'wet dry wet dry' weekend on a single charge.
However, I only paid motorsport tools £110 with an extra battery, so shop arround.
