Leave the tyres in the sun for a bit, that loosens them up for a bit.

Plus if you have the bead breaker that only pushes down on part of the tyre then it does take a while to get them off since they do want to slide down the sidewall. Just keep at it and it will eventually come off, try to keep the bead breaker pushed against the rim to stop it sliding, also try jigling it about abit instead of long strokes, they are a pain the in **** to get off sometimes but you just have to keep at it.
